Privacy Policy
Gig Recorder for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and CarPlay · Effective September 6, 2026
The short version: Gig Recorder has no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no servers of ours. Your recordings stay on your device and in the cloud folders you choose. Nothing is collected or stored for use by anyone but you.
Who we are
Gig Recorder is made by Robbie D Productions ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. It applies to the Gig Recorder app and to this website.
What we collect
Nothing. We do not collect, receive, or store any personal information, usage data, or content from the app. There is no sign-up, no account, and no analytics or crash-reporting SDK from us or any third party. Apple's App Store privacy label for Gig Recorder reads "Data Not Collected."
Your recordings and edits
Recordings, song markers, song names, gig photos, playlists, and Effects settings are saved as files on your device. They are never uploaded anywhere unless you choose one of the options below (iCloud, Dropbox, or sharing). Deleting the app deletes everything stored on the device.
Microphone, camera, and photos
- Microphone is used only while you are recording, from the built-in mic or a connected audio interface. Audio is written directly to files on your device.
- Camera is used only if you choose "Scan setlist" to read song names from a printed setlist. Text recognition runs on the device; the photo is not saved.
- Photos and Files are used only when you pick a gig photo. The photo you choose is resized and stored in that gig's folder.
Song detection
Gig Recorder can name songs by matching them against a reference library you build from your own recordings. Matching runs entirely on your device against your own library. The app never sends audio to Apple's Shazam catalog or any other online music-recognition service.
iCloud (optional)
If you turn on iCloud features in Settings, the app uses your own iCloud account:
- iCloud Drive folders you select receive exported songs, gig photos, and (if enabled) your editable sessions so your other devices stay in sync.
- Shared playlists you send to bandmates use Apple's CloudKit sharing. The shared record contains the playlist name, song titles, song links, and the gig photo link. Only the people you invite can open it, and you can stop sharing at any time.
This data lives in your iCloud account under Apple's terms and Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to it.
Dropbox (optional)
If you connect Dropbox, the app talks directly to Dropbox from your device to upload exports you choose and to read shared folders you link. The sign-in token Dropbox gives the app is stored only on your device, and we never see it or your Dropbox contents. Dropbox's handling of your files is governed by the Dropbox privacy policy. You can disconnect Dropbox in Settings at any time.
Sharing
When you share a song, a playlist link, or a Dropbox folder link, anyone you send it to (and, for public links, anyone who has the link) can listen to and download those files. Share only what you are comfortable making available to others, and respect the rights of your bandmates, venues, and songwriters.
Purchases
Gig Recorder Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. The app checks your purchase status with Apple's StoreKit and remembers it on your device. Refunds and receipts are handled through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Network connections
The app connects to the internet only for the optional services above: Apple iCloud/CloudKit, Dropbox, and the App Store. It makes no other network requests.
Children
Gig Recorder does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the age required in your country). Because nothing is collected, there is nothing for us to delete.
Your choices and deleting your data
- Delete recordings, gigs, or playlists inside the app, or delete the app to remove everything stored on the device.
- Remove exported files from your iCloud Drive or Dropbox folders yourself; the app does not delete files it has exported.
- Stop sharing a CloudKit playlist from the playlist's Share sheet, or revoke Dropbox access in Settings or from your Dropbox account's connected apps.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever begins collecting data (for example, opt-in crash reports), we will update this page, the App Store privacy label, and the app's Settings screen before that version ships, and the effective date above will change.
